Pitfalls in Football Betting
- Betting on Your Favorite Team. This is perhaps one of the biggest no-no’s when getting into professional sports betting. If you are serious about winning money, then you should be able to put your favorites aside and be logical about your bets. This is especially true for extremely popular teams, where the lines can be overvalued as sportsbooks to balance lines.
- Not Knowing the Latest in News. We always tell both players and bookies: check the news. If your quarterback is out on an injury, then see how this will affect the roster for upcoming games. Will your team be on the road, or are they coming in from a long break? There are a lot of factors that can affect a game outcome, and you should be aware of each of them.
- Not Acknowledging Injuries. Player injuries are very common in football, given how physical it can get. That being said, certain injuries, or certain player who get injured should be considered before betting. If an injuries, or a set of injuries will change a roster, then expect the odds and the possible outcome to change as well.
