Marco Rossi Aims for Wild Roster Spot

Many may remember Marco Rossi, the number 9 pick in the 2020 Draft, who had to return to Austria back in January due to a myocarditis diagnosis. Now, Rossi is back, and aims to secure a spot with the Minnesota Wild. Rossi’s illness was due to a complication from COVID-19. But the 19-year old is now healthy, and believes that his skills will help him land a spot in the Wild Roster.

iGamblingNow.com Picks reports that Rossi is focusing to earn the spot as one of the 26 Wild Spot prospects that will be playing at the 2021 Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. This familiar to many in the PayPerHead business as this showcase will feature two games. These two scrimmages will be played against Chicago Blackhawks prospects on Friday, and on Sunday.

Marco Rossi on Earning Wild Roster Spot

Rossi has led the Ontario Hockey League with 120 points. He has 39 goals, and 81 assists in 56 games. This was for Ottawa back in 2019-2020. Many Hockey fans were expecting him to push for a Wild roster spot last season. The 2020-2021 season of the NFL was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic back then. He was loaned to Zurich SC of the National league. However, just after playing a game in Switzerland, he was diagnosed with COVID-19 in mid-November last year.

He played 4 games for Austria in the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship in December, thinking all was well. However, he was soon diagnosed with myocarditis, which is the inflammation of the heart muscle. This was after going to Wild Training camp back in January. He returned to his family in Austria to recover and spend time with family. He is now back, and has resumed training since June. Some of the Minnesota Wild players have met Rossi and are curious to see how he performs this weekend.
