Illinois Sports Betting Handle Drops Again for July
The Illinois sports betting handle drops again in July. Even the best sports betting websites are under a bit of a rut as July is a notoriously slow month in sports betting. June was equally bad for the state, as it was the first time that they have failed to hit $500 million in total sports betting handle. July, however, is the lowest sports betting handle the state has seen. Let’s take a look at their numbers.
The Illinois Gaming Board has released the report on gambling in the state for July. According to the report, the total sports betting handle for the state is $369.1 million. This is 22% lower than June’s $476.6 million. This is almost half of the highest betting handle the state has seen, which is $633.6 million back in March.

If you are using the right pay per head software, you will still manage to earn despite the slow season. Looking at the Illinois sports betting market, the total mobile handle for the state, while lower, is still pretty good. Down from June’s $451.692 million, July’s total mobile handle is at $351.400 million. Meanwhile, revenue is down by 20.8% month on month. June’s revenue is 20.8%, while July is $37.612 million.
Of course, Illinois expects to fully bounce back by September, which is the start of football season. With college football, the NFL, and eventually the NBA, college football, and the NHL, Illinois residents will be having a lot more options for them to bet on. Another way for the state to earn more, is to remove the in-person registration requirement for online betting. Currently, new bettors will have to go to a physical sportsbook or casino to register before they can bet on their favorite teams online.
